India and Nepal

In the later part of November and into December FCF sponsored Leadership Summits in Katmandu, Nepal, and Guwahati, India. We sent Rev. Ron Bruce as the primary speaker at both meetings. Reports from Ron and our Relational Reps in India and Nepal were glowing.

In Kathmandu (Nepal), every attendee who was not previously baptized with the Holy Spirit received the baptism before the meeting was finished.

In Guwahati (India), 70 FCF ministers attended and heard Ron teach on ministerial ethics.

Cuba

Pastor Garfield Deans from Jamaica reported a successful trip to Cuba in November. He was invited to speak to a national youth rally held just outside of Cuba’s capital city of Havana. Thousands of young people attended, many of them students from the university. Twenty-eight countries were represented among the student population. Pastor Garfield had the opportunity to speak into their lives in a special way.

The Cuban church Garfield is working with has an open door into universities throughout the island nation. In effect, he is able to minister to the nations as he reaches these international students. Only in the great plan of God can a person come to a restricted-access nation like Cuba to hear the Gospel message.

We hope to see a collaboration of FCF Jamaica with FCF Canada to reach the people and ministers in Cuba in 2010.

Short-Term Mission Opportunities

Last October we presented a dozen short-term mission opportunities to the FCF family. To date, we have had two responses, both from non-FCF ministries, to prepare and send teams. Our expectation is that many in our FCF family will seize the chance to become a blessing cross-culturally. If there is a spark in your heart to organize a team or simply join one, please contact me. We’ll walk you through a life-changing, cross-cultural experience.

Demonstrating God’s Faithfulness

One of the best ways to demonstrate the faithfulness of our Father God during these difficult economic times is through our giving and going. We need to have faith that defies the prognosticators of doom and gloom. Besides, God’s power and provision shows up best in tough times so that He may be glorified.

My wife and I have made the decision to simplify our lives, releasing “things” that are non-essential. We have made adjustments to lighten our load and reduce our expenses. The one thing we have not, and will not, compromise in is our personal commitment to missions giving. This has been a constant over the years. It has been our security for God’s provision into our future.

Each year we make a substantial faith promise and trust God to bring in the seed to sow into the Gospel. He always has, and we have never lacked. I encourage you to prove God in the same way as an individual, a family and a church.

For the love of God and people, trust Him for finances beyond what you have given in the past to give towards His #1 priority—souls. For some this may mean committing to take a short-term mission trip. Step out. God will not fail you!

Please pray with us for the success of Leadership Summits in the Philippines and Nigeria in the month of February. In addition, my wife heads to Guatemala and Honduras next week.
