August Missions Partner Report PDF Print E-mail

Faith-filled greetings in Jesus Christ,

I trust you are enjoying your summer months; hopefully taking some time away from the daily grind and having quality time with your loved ones. Some in our FCF family have taken a “vacation with a purpose” this month to share the Gospel cross-culturally.

FCF of Mattoon, Illinois sent a short-term mission team to El Salvador to assist our precious sister, Virginia Velasquez. Virginia leads Nehemiah Foundation which is a multi-faceted ministry to the impoverished families of Santa Ana. The team was trained in clowning ministry that they used to reach children. They reported salvations among the children, and fifteen adults were filled with the Holy Spirit. The team returned with a greater passion for ministry and the feeling that they had received the greater blessing from the people they went to serve.

As I write this letter, another team from FCF Ottumwa, Iowa, is on their way to Santa Ana to conduct a city-wide children’s crusade. An FCF church from Baltimore has also sent a team to Guatemala City. Reports on those two trips will be in next month’s update.

Sending is not exclusive to the church in America. Pastor Garfield Deans and five members of his church in Montego Bay, Jamaica, have just returned from Cuba. In addition to bringing food, clothing, educational supplies, and a financial gift, the team ministered at a mega-church (1,000+) just outside Havana. (FCF Jamaica has been sending groups to Cuba for years.) Pastor Deans reports that the team did not stay at a hotel but in the private homes of Cuban believers. Their willingness to incarnate the Gospel created open doors and a special bond with the Cuban people. God is moving in Cuba! Pastor Dean has been invited to return in November to speak with pastors and at a Christian rally for more than 8,000 people.

We received another good report from Evan Hermann who returned from serving an internship with an FCF church in Cebu City, Philippines. Evan is a senior at Oral Roberts University, studying Pastoral Ministry. His ten weeks in the Philippines helped prepare him for the call and ministry the Lord has for him. Similar to the team from Illinois, Evan shared that he received more from his experience with the Filipinos then he gave. His host, Dutch Manzano, our Relational Representative in the Philippines, gave a glowing report about Evan’s participation.

If you have young (or maybe more “mature”) people in your church who are preparing for ministry and would benefit from an overseas internship, please contact me. We can help. There are several excellent opportunities for cross-culture internships. We will work to provide interns with the best experience possible, one that will fit their unique calls.

Finally, I want to let you know that several doors of opportunity have opened for FCF Int’l in Norway, Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Mozambique, Malaysia, and Thailand. I will be traveling to most of these places in the next month. So, as always, I appreciate your prayers. FCF is all about reaching the world for Jesus Christ. Whenever there is a chance to connect and influence more ministers who are preaching the Gospel, we want to be there.

Thank you for your faithful and generous support. Have no doubt that we are making a difference.
